You’ve heard of aging gracefully, but what about aging carefully? I chose this name for my business for a few reasons.

My Business Is Caring

I’ve been known to joke that the only thing I am really good at is caring. But it’s true—it is my superpower. I had a very loving mother who demonstrated immense compassion for the elderly residents she looked after as the matron of her own nursing home in Scotland.

It was there that I learned not only the practicalities of caring for older adults, but also how to treat them with deep dignity and respect. My mother was a wonderful role model and well loved by all who knew her. She passed away in 1987, and I live in Canada now, but my memories of her loving nature will never be forgotten.

In the summer of 2022, I had just completed a dual diploma at Fleming College as a mature student when an old friend asked if I could provide companion care for her aging mother. My friend was busy running her own business, and her mother was living with dementia and high anxiety, and requird regular companionship.

I had enjoyed reconnecting with older adults during my social service worker placement but I wasn't aware that a role like "companion carer" existed. Before this, I had thought my only choices for working with seniors would be to return to nursing or become an activities director—both of which would require further schooling.

After agreeing to help her, on what I thought would be a temporary basis, I soon realized that even though a few decades had passed since working with the elderly in Scotland, this was exactly where I belonged.

Spending regular time in a retirement home environment brought back fond memories of working in my mother's nursing home. I quickly realized I had found my true vocation. The time spent with my friend's mother was incredibly rewarding, and I was able to provide her with comfort and reassurance during her final years.

Over the past 4 years, I have transitioned to becoming a full-time companion caregiver. I love caring for older adults, and I would love to offer my support to you as you care for your loved one in retirement.

We're All Aging

The more time I spend with my elderly clients, the more passionate I become about finding ways to support their health, their families' health, and my own. With my own parents gone, I no longer have older family members left to care for, but I do have my own longevity to consider. There will come a time in the not-too-distant future when my own adult children will likely be the ones caring for me.

Having a history of dementia in my own family means I am constantly striving to learn as much as possible—not only to effectively support my clients who live with dementia, but also from a personal health and prevention standpoint.

I have always been fascinated by health-related subjects, recently with a focus on diet, supplementation, and proactive research. Incredible new information is coming to light regarding the root causes of cognitive decline, including how nutrition affects its progression.

So I decided to create a website where I could gather useful information and provide products that help make my clients' lives easier

I am passionate about sharing what I learn to help others feel their best. In addition to sharing information, I wanted to share products which have helped me, so I have partnered with a local health supplement manufacturer to offer high-quality products to my community.

Supporting My Clients' Most Important Caregiver - YOU

It's especially important for those in a caregiving position to care about their own health. I wanted to build a web-based business that supports the primary caregiver by offering my services, as well as providing helpful information and products. I provide items tailored for your loved ones—such as puzzles, brain games, sensory aids, and empathy dolls—alongside premium supplements to help you feel your best while you care for them.

If I don't have exactly what you're looking for, just let me know, and I will do my best to find it for you!

Ultimately, I wanted a business name that reflects the hands-on care work I do with my clients, the deep empathy I have for family members, and the intentional products that bring joy to your loved ones.
